Delicious peppermint candy cane cookies that are perfect for the holiday season.
Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
- Red and green food coloring
- Crushed candy canes (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together the butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually blend in the flour and salt until just combined.
- Divide the dough in half; color one half with peppermint extract and red food coloring.
- Roll a small piece of red dough into a rope, and do the same with the plain dough. Twist them together and bend into a cane shape.
- Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden.
- Cool on the baking sheet for a couple of minutes, then sprinkle with crushed candy canes.
Notes
- These cookies can be decorated with additional crushed candy canes for extra flavor and color.
