Description

Delicious peppermint candy cane cookies that are perfect for the holiday season.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Red and green food coloring
  • Crushed candy canes (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually blend in the flour and salt until just combined.
  5. Divide the dough in half; color one half with peppermint extract and red food coloring.
  6. Roll a small piece of red dough into a rope, and do the same with the plain dough. Twist them together and bend into a cane shape.
  7. Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for a couple of minutes, then sprinkle with crushed candy canes.

  • These cookies can be decorated with additional crushed candy canes for extra flavor and color.
