Description

Delicious caramelized onions that add flavor to any dish.


Ingredients

  • 3 large yellow onions
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons water (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and thinly slice the onions evenly.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat and add butter and olive oil.
  3. Once melted, add the onions and stir to coat them in the fat.
  4. Spread the onions evenly in the pan and let them cook undisturbed for a few minutes.
  5. Stir occasionally, keeping heat low to avoid burning.
  6. If sticking occurs, add a splash of water to deglaze and stir.
  7. Continue cooking for 30–40 minutes until onions are deep golden brown and soft.
  8. Use immediately or store in airtight containers.
