- 2 sheets puff pastry sheets
- 24 pieces cocktail sausages
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- Mustard (for garnish)
- Ketchup or sauce (for dipping)
- Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the Pastry: Thaw the puff pastry sheets according to package instructions if frozen. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pastry sheets to smooth any creases.
- Cut the Pastry: Cut each pastry sheet into strips, approximately 1 inch wide and 3 inches long.
- Wrap the Sausages: Take one strip of pastry and wrap it around each cocktail sausage, securing the ends by pressing gently.
- Egg Wash: Place the wrapped sausages on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush each pastry bite with the beaten egg to ensure a golden finish.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Add a small drop of mustard on top of each pastry bite for garnish. Arrange on a platter with a small bowl of ketchup or your preferred dipping sauce. Garnish the platter with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider brushing the inside of the pastry with a mixture of mustard and honey before wrapping the sausages.
- You can also use different types of sausages, such as spicy, chicken, or vegetarian, to suit different taste preferences.
- If preparing in advance, assemble the sausage bites and refrigerate. Bake just before serving for fresh, crisp appetizers.
