Description

These savory bacon cheese crackers are a quick and delicious snack that combines buttery crackers with a creamy filling of bacon and cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 crackers round buttery crackers (like Ritz)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 6 slices cooked bacon (crumbled)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 2 tbsp green onions (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • salt to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare Bacon: Cook bacon slices until crispy. Let them cool and crumble them into small pieces.
  3. Mix Filling: In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, crumbled bacon, half of the shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  4. Assemble Crackers: Take one cracker and spread about a tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture on it. Top it with another cracker to make a sandwich. Repeat with the remaining crackers and filling.
  5. Top and Bake: Place the cracker sandwiches on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top of each cracker. Bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese on top is melted and bubbly.
  6. Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is fully softened for easier mixing.
  • Feel free to substitute the cheddar with any of your favorite cheeses like Gouda or Havarti for different flavors.
  • Add a sprinkle of cayenne pepper for an extra kick if desired.
  • These can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Just reheat in the oven to crisp up before serving.
