- Olive oil (for frying)
- 1 cup beef or vegetable broth (for gravy)
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for gravy)
- Cooked green peas (for serving)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Meatballs:
- In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs and milk. Let it soak for a few minutes.
- Add ground beef, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and parsley to the breadcrumb mixture. Mix thoroughly.
- Shape the mixture into medium-sized meatballs.
- Cook the Meatballs:
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes.
- Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Mashed Potatoes:
- While the meatballs are cooking, boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- Drain and return the potatoes to the pot.
- Add butter and milk to the potatoes and mash until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
- Prepare the Gravy:
- In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add a bit more oil if necessary.
- Sprinkle flour and stir well, cooking for about 1 minute.
- Gradually add beef broth, stirring constantly until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
- Assemble and Serve:
- Plate a portion of mashed potatoes, top with meatballs, and drizzle with gravy.
- Serve with a side of cooked green peas.
- Garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the mashed potatoes.
- Ensure meatballs are browned evenly by shaking the pan occasionally while cooking.
- If the gravy is too thick, adjust the consistency by adding more broth as needed.
