- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup full-fat sour cream
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 to 3 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
- Pinch of salt
- Festive sprinkles
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract. Mix until fully incorporated.
- Add sour cream and mix until smooth. Do not overmix.
- Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients. Mix just until combined.
- Chill dough for 30 to 60 minutes if time allows.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment.
- Scoop and roll dough into 1–1 tbsp balls. Flatten gently.
- Bake 8–10 minutes, until edges are set. Let cool on a wire rack.
- For frosting, beat butter until creamy. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream. Mix until fluffy.
- Frost cooled cookies generously and add sprinkles while frosting is soft.
Notes
- Chilling the dough improves the texture of the cookies.
