Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 ¾ sticks butter (softened, 14 tablespoons)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Whipped cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F. Then, spray a 12×8-inch baking dish with baking spray. Set aside.
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples into thick wedges. Toss them with cinnamon and four tablespoons of sugar.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and one cup of sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour and baking powder until just combined.
  5. Spread half of the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish. Layer with half of the apples, then spread the remaining batter on top. Finish with the remaining apples.
  6. Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving. Spoon into bowls and enjoy warm topped with homemade whipped cream.
