- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1 ¾ sticks butter (softened, 14 tablespoons)
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Whipped cream (for serving)
Instructions
- Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F. Then, spray a 12×8-inch baking dish with baking spray. Set aside.
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into thick wedges. Toss them with cinnamon and four tablespoons of sugar.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter and one cup of sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually mix in the flour and baking powder until just combined.
- Spread half of the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish. Layer with half of the apples, then spread the remaining batter on top. Finish with the remaining apples.
- Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Spoon into bowls and enjoy warm topped with homemade whipped cream.
