Description

Delicious glazed pink frosted donuts perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 34 tbsp milk
  • A few drops of pink food coloring
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs. Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  2. Shape the Donuts: Roll the dough to a thickness of about 1/2 inch on a floured surface. Use a donut cutter or two different-sized round cutters to form donut shapes. Place the donuts on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  3. Frying: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 350°F (180°C). Fry the donuts in batches for 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  4. Prepare the Pink Frosting: In a bowl, combine powdered sugar, milk, pink food coloring, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more milk if needed.
  5. Glaze the Donuts: Dip the top of each donut into the pink frosting. Place on a rack to drain excess glaze. Immediately sprinkle with colorful sprinkles.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm (not hot) to activate the yeast effectively without killing it.
  • Allow the donuts to rise adequately in a warm spot for the best fluffy texture.
  • Customize the frosting color by adjusting the amount of food coloring.
  • For a richer flavor, replace some milk in the frosting with cream.
  • Always monitor the oil temperature to avoid burning the donuts. Use a thermometer for best results.
